Game of the Week - Howard vs. Keough (V) was one of two games that took an extra quarter to decide. Both teams came prepared to play with a compliment of players. Seniors Lewis and Bacon carried the torch for Keough scoring 13 of their 17 first half points. The second half watched the lead evaporate after Keough applied pressure and forced steals. Both team inserted lineups that seem to serve them well. For Howard, freshman Camille as crafty with the ball and offered long range shooting. Keough countered with transfer sophomore Addison who was stellar on the defensive side of the ball. At the end of regulation, Howard 35 Keough 35. Overtime was a period where both teams put the ball in the hand of seniors. Each team had opportunities to clinch the deal from the charity stripe but it was Jennings who scored all of her 10 points in the 2nd half and overtime that prove to be the difference, which secured the 37-35 Keough win!

2nd Game of the Week - Chesapeake vs. Parkdale was the second game that forced overtime. In this one, it was back and forth throughout. In the first half, each exchanged baskets with their stars leading the way. At the end of half, pretty even with Chesapeake leading by a point, 16-15. Second half saw an explosion of points by both teams. Chesapeake's Hallie and Brooke came to life leading the Cougars. It was Ms. Brooke last second 3 and Parkdale's Briel and the long range shooting of Drew that had this one even at the end of regulation. Overtime was all Chesapeake. Hallie, Brooke, and the big shot by Ms. MiKaela that got the Lady Cougars the hard fought win. AA County teams might want to come scout this squad because they are for real and playing with great confidence and teamwork. Chesapeake 41-37!
The Swamp and basketball community gives a special "attagirl" and "kudos" to the student-athletes and coaches of Parkdale who played this game directly after the homegoing of their principal Tanya Washington. Please know that you are a class act and we send our condolences!πΌπ½
