Friday AA County Game Recap!!
I know I am a little late but here is the a quick recap from last Friday's AA County play:
AN over AR 46-24: Three Freshman starters for the Panthers and they have a nice coming out Party!!
SR over SO 60-46: Adams, Ogle, Woodyard and company were too much for the Dawgs. Freshman "Key" West had a good showing for the Hawks!
SP over BN 39-26: Kavanagh had a D/D for SP (14/11) while Wharton had 9 for BN!!
CH over NE 58-32: Slade had 17, Shannon 12, and Foreman a D/D (12/10) for Chesapeake. Cornwell had 11 for the Eagles!
ME over NC 39-19:
GB over OM 59-47: Porter had 25 and Nick had 18 for the Gophers, while Watts had 10 for the Patriots.
This game came down to TO's and Rebounds with GB controlling the boards early. It was a coming out game for Freshman #1 Starr Munford who scored anywhere between 7 and 9 points, had 4 steals 1 assist and a block in only her 2nd Varsity game. Count her points as unexpected points, but her defensive play was far more impactful than the stats showed. She constantly prevented the OM Guards from getting into their Offensive flow, allowing Porter and Cassidy Wilkerson to make off ball defensive plays resulting in OM turnovers. Munford who as a freshman has long arms and quick hands for a Guard could cause problems for the smaller guards in the County, but again she comes off the bench so it won't help to focus on her...you have to get pass Porter, Nick, Wilkerson and the Sophomore Munford before you see her!
Tonight's Games will be viewed on tape and results provided tomorrow!
Arundel v Hammond
Annapolis v GSA
Southern v Calvert
Glen Burnie v Hereford
Broadneck v Indian Creek
Crofton v St. Mary's
South River v Meade
Chesapeake v Mt DeSales
